It might not be the weather for eating ice-cream but who cares. Ice-cream parlours, Italian style, are thin on the ground in London, although credit is due to the Patisserie Valerie chain for their new Gelaterias in Bishopsgate and the Kings Road.
One prime example not to follow is Rendezvous in Leicester Square. Now, I do know that it really is just for the tourists but they should have some grasp of reality. Two scoops of ice-cream comes to nearly £11, served up to you by possibly the grumpiest waitress in London. Not to mention the Las Vegas meets Al Capone interior. Anyone tempted would be better off in the Haagen Daz cafĂ© across the square.

This should really be a public service announcement. Thanks Gorb for wasting your readies.
Never go there, awful place, needs to be demolished and replaced with something decent.
I don't agree at all. You may have had a bad experience there, but it is the only place in London that you can find such delicious ice cream, and also fat free and sugar free yogurts and ice creams. As for the price, what do you expect, it is Leicester square and their rent must be astronomical. I for one hate the bland chains that all serve the same rubbish in take away cups.
fair play about their rent, may-be I'll give it another go sometime in the summer
I'm french, so I apologize for the mistakes... However you could understand me... Anyway, I've worked there during a couple of months, and I really don't care if the ice-creams are good or not... The boss is so such a bastard... It's a public restaurant based on Leicester Square , you buy your yogurt or anything else, but you can only sit for 30min outside... If you want stay more, you hace to reorder! And when, you know the price of a single ice-cream, you just think about eating it quietly, without any asshole who's gonna ask you to reorder! Moreover, there are prices for the day... And DOUBLE prices for the night! Everything (from the bottle of water to the ice-cream, passing by the fudges) is £7.95... Do what you want, I just hate it...
Biggest rip off in London - 9.95 for 3 small balls of very average icecream.... really gutted I didn't go to Baskin Robins.......also noticed that a Cafe Latte cost £9.95.....felt really sorry for other tourists that wasted their money here.....
I just came back from there tonight, spent 16 pounds on ice cream and uncooked apple pie.. when i complained.. i was told I had to go to the counter to speak to the manager as he wont come to me.. I suggested that as im the customer complaining it would be better for him to come to me instead of queuing up to complain.. he didnt, 1 hour later I went to the counter to be ignored and shouted at...
it seems they live of the tourists who wont complain and dont have the time.. why the hell dont Londonders complain?
we should do something.. I leave my email if some of you want to

i went there last night with my partner. ice creams and cakes looked good. ordered 2 chai's (spicy tea), a slice of cheesecake and a small bottle of water. I almost fainted when the miserable waitress said £36.90, i could not believe my ears and asked again. So i said surely that must be a mistake she then pointed to a small irritating list of prices...£9.95 for tea/coffee, £10 for a slice of cake. wait for it £6.90 for a small bottle of water. I asked to see the manager who said well i should have checked the prices before i ordered, fair point and ive learnt my lesson to always check first, but how can you get away with charging that sort of money for a tea??cake and water. The man next to me made the same mistake and was so angry that he had'nt realised the place was so expensive left leaving his order behind. I am still in shock. Please dont go there, the manager showed no remorse and said they increase their prices in summer, obviously to take advantage of the tourists who may get sucked into this rip off restaurant.Dont go....
